What Is Combed Cotton
Cotton is one of the most commonly used materials and is not just used in socks. Many everyday objects use the material, for example, your bed sheets, bath towels, and probably the shirt you are wearing currently. The cotton material is a fabric made naturally from cotton plant seed pods and is grown in over 70 different countries around the world. Combed cotton is very similar to cotton they both come from the same plant seed pods but during the manufacturing process or carding, the cotton fibres are separated and lined up to ensure they lie in the same direction, to make the cotton combed; a fine brush is used to remove any remaining impurities from the original carding process, and this done to create a softer material.
Combed Cotton Vs Cotton
Combed cotton is a much softer material than the regular cotton material and this is due to the material not having any impurities or short fibre threads. Combed cotton is a lot stronger and more durable than normal cotton due to the removal of short fibre threads which are more likely to break. With more straight cotton fibres being used in combed cotton, they are able to join more tight resulting in a less likely chance of the thread unraveling. Due to this reason, combed cotton is more high quality and luxurious in comparison to regular cotton.
